It just takes too long for traditional Lithium batteries to charge and before you know it you must replace a battery because it is depleted beyond its useful life. 

Batteries are the weakest element in battery powered systems used to perform critical tasks. For critical need mobile devices, it poses two problems, extra batteries are needed to maintain continuous power critical for your task and your batteries take 3-4 hours to charge once their energy is consumed. With typical runtimes of 30 to 60 minutes, it is very common to fully charge and discharge battery packs several times during an operational shift, meaning that battery packs will require more than 1000 cycles per year.

    We are experts on designing and testing mobile total power systems including UPS (Uninterruptable Power Systems) using very safe Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP, LiFePO4) battery packs that can deliver high power (6C rate or higher), that can be charged extremely fast (6C rate, in less than 10 minutes for small energy systems) and still deliver at least 2,000 cycles.

Battery Packs/Power Systems Size

Depending on the end market application there are different types of products that are available mostly depending on the system/battery size, power, energy, and runtime requirements. Four main markets are driving the requirements:

  1. Small systems for 2-way radios, typical 10W power, 7 to 10V range, 12 hours runtime that can be charged in less than 10 minutes with a cycle life of 2,000 cycles.
  2. Medium Systems for Medical carts, typical 500Wh, 12V power with DC to AC converter 120W, 20 minutes charge with 8-10hour runtime and cycle life of 2000 cycles.
  3. Medium Systems for Drones, typically from 500Wh to 1500Wh and 12V to 48V application depending on the total payload space and weight available that could be charged in less than one hour, and still deliver a cycle life of 2,000 cycles.
  4. Medium to large systems for Mobile Robots typically from 500Wh to 5000Wh that could be charged in less than one hour, and still deliver a cycle life of 2,000 cycles.
